So, today is Saturday and it's almost the end of my week off (boo!) but I can't complain as it's been great. I won't go into all the boring details as that involves a lot of me sitting around on my behind doing absolutely nothing and no-one wants to read about that.

A few highlights though:

1. Waking up late next to the bf knowing we have the whole day together.

2. Going to the Wirral to see our friend and her wonderful family - I also got to play 'castles and soldiers' with their youngest son and found I had quite a knack for it!

3. Meeting the bf's newest friend who is fantastic. They really bounce off each other which is both amusing and incredibly sweet.

4. Today - had a nice lie in and got stuck into some cleaning; I'm not really the house-proud type but after seeing my efforts, it may not be such a bad thing if I turn into my mother.

Well, one more day to go.....

I hope no-one messes the house up.

Reflections on the last 2 months

So here I go, the first blog I have done without being forced! I feel quite proud of myself.

In early September I started my PGCE course to become a foreign languages teacher (German and French) and today is my first review with my personal tutor, so I thought I would reflect about how I'm feeling right now and how I felt when I started.

The first thing I have to say is that I can't believe how quickly it's going, I'm already on my second school placement and feel that if I blink I'm going to miss this year completely. When I started in September I was extremely nervous, although I really wanted to be a teacher (and still do!) I just wasn't sure if I could actually do it. Was I ready? I have taught before, but I taught adults who wanted to learn English; teaching teenagers French and German just isn't the same!

I also started the course with the attitude that I wasn't going to make any more friends. I was quite happy in my little bubble with the bf and my few good friends, plus I knew I would only be at the university itself for a short time, I thought 'what's the point?'

So, where am I now after 2 months? I am loving my course, I have never felt more ready for something in my life - I am still nervous about having bad days and bad lessons, but I suppose that comes with the territory. I just can't wait to be a fully qualified teacher! As for friends, well I have to admit, I did make some and they are great. It's nice to have people in the same position as you who can relate to what you're going through.

Before I finish I just want to thank G.O, for believing in me and helping me realise my dreams. Thank you so much for all your support through these past 2 months and hopefully won't be too much of a pain to live with. xxx

1. I have been interviewed on a Japanese television morning programme (think Phil & Fern but not as funny) promoting the language school I worked for.

2. I have a brown belt in the martial art of shorinji kempo (japanese kung fu).

3. I am one of the very few who actually enjoyed working in a call centre.

4. I am very paranoid about losing my hair.

5. Conversely, I have a VERY hairy bum!

I hope you know me a bit better now and am very sorry for not blogging ever. I will make more of an effort to tell you more!

dreams

After wanting to be an athlete (a hurdler or long jumper to be precise) for many years, I realsied at high school that this dream would never come true as my legs didn't grow and I am far too short. So I never knew what I wanted to do. People always told me I'd be a teacher and I was determined to prove them wrong - but alas I have gone down the teaching path and couldn't be happier. It just goes to show that dreams change and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
